Shropshire Training and Counselling Practice (STCP, registered as Walden the Roots)
is a private training provider based in Telford. We have been successfully delivering counselling courses, including those approved by CPCAB (Counselling and Psychotherapy Central Awarding Body) and ABC (ABC Awards), for over 16 years.
Our counselling training courses are fully accredited and recognised by the Counselling and Psychotherapy Central Awarding Body (CPCAB) and are compatible with British Association of Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP) requirements (www.bacp.co.uk).
Based upon CPCAB’s developmental model (www.cpcab.co.uk) we combine practical counselling skills with the underpinning theory. Throughout the courses the focus is maintained on personal growth and self development. All our trainers are practising counsellors, as well as, qualified lectures and members of BACP.
Walden The Roots is also a recognised centre by the Skills and Education Group Awards (www.skillsandeducationgroupawards.co.uk). To enhance our trainees careers prospects in counselling we offer courses from both CPCAB and Skills and Education Group Awards awarding bodies.

I am a fully trained psychotherapist and a Lecturer. Most of my working life has been in education, as a teacher, middle manager and a counselling co-ordinator. I have also worked as an external verifier of counselling courses for CPCAB.
Personal Counselling: Life matters—but quality of Life matters more. Individual’s quality of life is the central focus of my client work. I have worked with clients who have Bi-polar disorder, OCD, Psychosis, clinical depression, addiction and acute anxiety. I offer counselling and psychotherapy, short and long term in private practice.
Supervision is an integral part of teaching counselling and psychotherapy. I also offer individual and group supervision.

I have worked in the therapeutic field for over 35 years and have extensive experience as a therapist/facilitator, clinical supervisor and as a college/university lecturer. I worked for many years in the NHS, including service development and clinical management. I also have considerable experience in the private and corporate sectors and as a higher education course inspector for the HCPC (Health and Care Professions Council, government statutory regulator).

Stephanie Huntington (PhD in Theoretical Physics, Therapeutic Diploma in Counselling, MBACP).
My background is in physics for which I was awarded my PhD in December 2015. During this time I also worked as a teaching assistant on undergraduate physics courses. I made the decision to study counselling and psychotherapy in 2019 achieving all my counselling qualifications through Walden The Roots training centre. I now co-tutor on the Certificate for Counselling Skills course (Level 3) and the Diploma for Therapeutic Counselling (Level 4) whilst working as a counsellor part time.

Helen Bowes
Helen Bowes has been a Qualified and BACP Senior Accredited Counsellor, Clinical Supervisor and Counselling Trainer for 15 years. She had a varied career prior to becoming a Counsellor in both Environmental Health and Early Years, and as a trainer within these disciplines, Helen is qualified in Adult and Further Education as has been a Trainer, Assessor and Internal Verifier for over 40 years. Helen lives in Staffordshire and currently works as a Counsellor and Clinical Supervisor in Private Practice, although she has worked within the voluntary and public sectors also.
